WHITE SPRUCE & ASPEN FOREST
This mix of white spruce understory and trembling aspen overstory is the most common plant community on the landscape, with a balanced mix of trees, shrubs, and herbs.
The most common shrubs are prickly rose and highbush cranberry, and the herb and low shrub layers are diverse, often with tall bluebells and trailing raspberry.
White spruce and aspen forests in NEBC are typically found on flat ground or gentle hillsides.

A total of 1,000 stakes per hectare is recommended, ideally 500 deciduous trees and 500 shrubs.

A total of 5,000 seedlings per hectare is required, ideally 1500 trees, 2000 shrubs, and 1500 herbs & grasses.

PRODUCT TYPE: seeds
A minimum of 35 kg/ha of seed mix is recommended, with an optional addition of 2,500 caps/ha of seed capsules. If additional seed capsules are used, the seed mix rate must remain at full strength (35 kg/ha).
The seed mix must include bluejoint reedgrass and, as native seeds become commercially available from sources with appropriate regional
genetics (i.e., collected within Blueberry River First Nations Territory), the seed mix should incorporate a diverse mix of shrub, herb, and grass species listed in the prescription above.
